WHO IS BRYAN BAEUMLER?

Bryan Baeumler is a Canadian television host on several HGTV shows. A former handyman and businessman, he translated those careers into a series of TV shows about home renovations in Canada and the U.S. as well as a hotel renovation in the Bahamas. He has won a Gemini Award for his hosting and has published a book on home renovations.

BAEUMLER APPROVED?

Bryan Baeumler’s goal at Baeumler Approved is to help homeowners connect with contractors, trades, and home service providers from across Canada. We help homeowners know what to look for and vouch for a history of good service by speaking with previous clients and collaborators.

All Baeumler Approved members are required to make a commitment to honesty, integrity, and quality service by signing our code of conduct. If a member is found to have broken their commitment, they can be removed from our database.

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM

It is too often that Bryan Baeumler hears of homeowners being ripped off or misled by contractors or service providers that are only out to make a quick buck. The Baeumler Approved Program was established in order to help homeowners avoid these fly-by-night businesses and connect with reputable companies with a history of integrity and quality work.  Here are some other resources and Check Lists for homeowners to help you select a proper builder and contractor. Consumer protection is also in place throughout Canada and the Ontario Government.

WHAT IS OUR CODE OF CONDUCT?

All Baeumler Approved Members are required to sign, and adhere to our Code of Conduct, based on Bryan’s approach to customer service and satisfaction.

OUR CODE OF CONDUCT REQUIRES THAT CONTRACTORS:

  • Treat all of their customers and their property with respect.
  • Provide quotes that are fair, honest and reasonable.
  • Keep the customer abreast of project progression.
  • Follow all federal, provincial/state and municipal bylaws.
  • Maintain active insurance and follow health and safety regulations.
  • Provide employees with education and training for safety.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace for staff and customers.
  • Complete work to a professional standard.

We encourage feedback from homeowners in regard to work completed by our members. You are encouraged to contact us. We will address complaints/issues; we love hearing about your satisfaction!

If a member is not compliant with our code-of conduct or performs work that does not meet our standard of quality, they can be removed from the Baeumler Approved Network without refund.

HOW DO YOU SELECT YOUR MEMBERS?

Baeumler Approved members must demonstrate a verifiable history of quality work and customer satisfaction and are subject to the Baeumler Approved screening process.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

We speak directly with previous clients to get a sense of quality of work, level of service, pricing, follow up, and communication.

COLLABORATING TRADES

We speak with other companies that our applicants have collaborated with, to ensure safety compliance, quality of work, and communication demonstrated on the job-site.

ONLINE PRESENCE

We verify the on-line history of our applicants through referrals, testimonials, and complaints lodged against potential members.

INSURANCE COVERAGE

All Baeumler Approved members must have active liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000 where applicable.

WORKERS COMPENSATION

All Baeumler Approved members must retain active workers compensation coverage if it is applicable to their service.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Where required, Baeumler Approved members must provide evidence of professional certifications (Master Plumber, Master Electrician etc….).

TAILORED INSURANCE

We are always adjusting our insurance to suit the specific needs of your project to what is known as a rider, endorsement or floater. Insurance is never a 'one size fits all'. We hold a Canadian $2,000,000 liability policy with Special Risk Insurance B.C. Policy number SR095662. If the value of your home exceeds this amount we adjust our policy prior to commencing a renovation. When we build a custom home we are required to get a 'Builder's Risk Policy' which are charged mainly on total replacement values. HCRA license and Tarion are specific to what our scope is each year and will be provided to our customers prior to building new structures.

HONEST AND RESPONSIBLE

General contractors are not permitted to perform new technical plumbing, electrical, hvac, and gas installations unless they are licensed. Nor does insurance companies' cover contractors while attempting to perform work that has to be done by a licensed professional. When Woodland needs to perform structural work or framing we notify our insurance company with engineered stamped drawings before performing the work and our insurance adds the 'rider' to our policy. Absolute peace of mind for builder and homeowners.
